Once Emperor Gruumm launched his attack on the S.P.D. Federation in the Helix Nebula, Command Cruger sent the A Squad Power Rangers to the frontlines of the battle to prevent Emperor Gruumm from taking over there.

S.P.D. later lost communication with the A Squad and were believed to have been eliminated in battle.  Much later, S.P.D. received a distress call from Gamma Orion via the Restricted S.P.D. Channel.  The B Squad Rangers were sent to investigate.  What they found was a crashed S.P.D. ship, and inside were the five missing A Squad Rangers.

Upon returning A Squad to Earth, Commander Cruger and all of S.P.D. were grateful to have their best Rangers alive and back.  However, this would not last for long.  It seems that the A Squad is fighting for Emperor Gruumm and the Magnificence.  They captured Commander Cruger, and took him to Emperor Gruumm.  

The A Squad then decided to take on the B Squad.  In the clash, A Squad had the upper hand for a time, but after B Squad used their S.W.A.T. Mode, they were able to defeat the A Squad.  But before the evil Rangers could be captured, they used their Evil Zord to attack.  The Rangers fought with the Delta Squad Megazord & Omega Max Megazord.  However, the A Squad was still too powerful and ended up severely damaging the Delta Squad Megazord, causing the Rangers to evacuate it.

Thankfully, Kat had the S.W.A.T. Flyers stored in the secret underground Zord Bay.  The Rangers used the S.W.A.T. Megazord to destroy the Evil Zord.  The A Squad was then judged, found guilty, and each of them placed in Containment Cards.

Luckily Kat had the S.W.A.T. Flyers stored in the secret underground Zord Bay.  The Rangers were then able to use the S.W.A.T. Megazord to destroy the evil Megazord.
