Linear Review
Well, since it does not appear that we will be getting just normal releases of the Road Blaster & Turbo Plasma Launcher, I went ahead and purchased these two Role Play sets just so I could have the Red, Blue & Yellow Ranger's weapons in some form.  Though I can't say I'm really that pleased with my purchases.

We'll start off by going over all the miscellaneous & repetitive items included with the two sets.  Each set comes with a Ranger Helmet Mask for the kids to wear.  The main problem I've always seen with these is that they probably press into a child's nose, due to the elastic strap.  Next are the mini Cell Shift Morphers.  These are pretty bad, in that they're only 6 1/2 inches long, they have no locking joint so they just have to be held in place, and they're difficult to place their mini Engine Cell Chips into.  There's of course no light or sound features to these Morphers, and the button area is just a sticker, as is the closed cover area.  The mini Engine Cell Chips are small as well and have no feature.  The Morpher Cases are just small plastic boxes for kids to carry their mini Morphers around in, though I really don't know why.  Then there's the mini Nitro Blasters.  There's nothing that good about these.  They're very tiny, when compared to the full size Nitro Blaster.  When in Saber Mode, there's not even a little bit of a blade, just the orange barrel.  There is a slot to insert the mini Engine Cell Key, but nothing to hold it in place.  And then you have the small belt holster clips for the mini Nitro Blasters

So let's move onto the real reason why I bought these sets, the Ranger's main weapons.  We'll start with the Street Saber.  It's more along the lines of a dinner knight in terms of length.  It measures just under 9 inches in length.  The Red Gate Area does not lift up with you combine the weapons, it's just one solid piece.  The Turbo Cannon is tiny, measuring only about 4 inches in length, 4 inches in height, and an inch & 3/8s in width.  It had no features to it, and does not have a door to place the Engine Cell Chips in.  One funny note though, is that the sticker on the side is exactly the same as the larger Japanese Version, as it lists the weapons by their Japanese names.  Finally the Yellow Ranger's weapon is just a hollow shaped plastic toy.  It has no wheels and measures about 2 7/8 inches in length.

As shown above, all three main weapons can combine to form the Road Blaster.  It measures about 10 1/4 inches in length.  There's no locking or sitting area for the Yellow Ranger's weapon to rest, so as it sits there, the Yellow Ranger's weapon will of course want to slide down.  When you want to "fire" the Yellow Ranger's weapon out, you of course have to give the weapon a slide.  As it goes out of the Turbo Cannon & onto the Street Saber, it drops down a bit, since there's no gradual transition between the two weapons.

Kids

I can't really see kids enjoying these sets that much.  I mean when they can have the full size Cell Shift Morpher & Nitro Blaster for a combined total of $32, it's a better use of the money.  The helmet masks aren't worth it, and even the Ranger weapons are a real let down.  Kids may want the Helmet Masks, but keep in mind that in the fall, Bandai America will release a $30 Red Ranger helmet for the kids to wear, and it'll be better than a mask.

Collectors

Forget it, the only reason why any collector should even consider these sets, is if they're like me and didn't want to spend the high cost of importing the Japanese versions.

Linear Ranger

Yep, these were a big let down for me.  I really didn't expect that much going in, but these set just don't do it.  I mean I spent $40 plus tax just so I could have a Street Saber, Turbo Cannon, and whatever the Yellow Ranger's weapon will be called.  I think for the price of $20, Bandai could have just enlarged the size of the three weapons and released them as a set.  They wouldn't need to do anything else to them, just increase their size and release them as a combining set.  I look at it that at least I have some form of Road Blaster, and I can put the black packaging plastic back in the masks and hang them on the wall for decoration.  But yeah, this was a let down.
