Linear Review
This last Operation
Overdrive Weapon, and final Operation Overdrive Toy Review to be done by Linear
Ranger. Yes, just as new Jungle Fury toys are starting to arrive, the
Mercury Scope (aka the Drive Detector) finally arrives.
There really isn't much to this weapon. In Detector Mode, you press the trigger and the "Detecting Sound" occurs for as long as you hold the button. Then when you release, the "Found Sound" occurs. You also get a "Detector Disc", which attaches to the end of the weapon, though adds no extra features or specials to the weapon. In Detector Mode it measures about 15 inches between its farthest points.
The Blaster Mode is has just the normal Blaster Sound, when you pull the trigger. I should mention that the weapon does have one small red light area, close to the trigger, that lights up. This mode measures about 9 inches between its farthest points.
When compared to its Japanese Version, it's still not that bad. It's been shortened by about 3 inches or less. The real metal detecting feature has been taking out, but I never expected them to keep that anyway.
Overall, it's a good enough weapon. Granted yeah it's still a bit short and small, but so is the Japanese Version. This is probably a good buy for the Kid Fan of Operation Overdrive, and an okay buy for any adult collector.
