Attack Drive Lance

The Drive Lance Weapon
has finally started arriving in store shelves, and with it a bit of disappointment.
First, if you were to just start off by looking at the claws, you'd be pleased. The claws are large and could probably be close to show scale. However, when you then look at the entire weapon you see a very short handle for a "lance" weapon. The handle itself only measures a little over 8 1/4 inches.
The claws can be opened and closed, and as you do this, a mechanical sound is activated. With the claws closed, the weapon measures about 15 1/2 inches, and when opened measures 15 1/4 inches.
Now let's talk about the blade. Okay, in Operation Overdrive, the blade of the Drive Lance is IN the lance and is not removable. However, Bandai America decided to make the blade removable. The blade itself is 6 1/2 inches long and made of bendable plastic. You attach the blade into its connector on the SIDE of the Drive Lance, causing a lightning strike sound.
However, if you want to the Drive Lance to look a bit more accurate, you'll see a space in the top between the claws. Insert the bottom of the blade into this space and you'll have a slightly better looking Drive Lance weapon. This takes the entire length of the toy to 16 1/4 inches.
Finally, if you shake the Drive Lance back and forth, the lightning crash sound activates some more.
Overall, Drive Lance is another let down for the Operation Overdrive Weapon Toys. As I said, the Claws are great (minus the Power Rangers sticker) and have a good size to them. But then with the handle of the weapon being so sort just takes the weapon down. Now I don't expect Bandai America to put out a completely show accurate, but I would like the weapon to be the same all around size, instead of one big part and the rest small. I think Kids will find the Drive Lance somewhat enjoyable, but collectors will probably pass on it. I still think if you want a decent Drive Lance and don't want to import, go with the soft attack version.
