Drill Blaster & Tri-Laser

Linear Review
The Tri-Laser is finally released by Bandai America, though not the way I really expected it to be.  As you can tell, Bandai America decided to take the Drill Blaster weapon, and release it in to its two different modes; Drill Blaster Mode & Tri-Laser Mode.  So let's get to the Tri-Laser Review.

The Tri-Laser is a very simple weapon.  It measures just about 11 3/4 inches long, which isn't very long for a Power Rangers weapon.  When you press the trigger, a missile firing sound occurs & the Operation Overdrive emblem lights up.

Now, for the Laser, unlike the Japanese Dual Crasher where the Laser is motorized, with the Tri-Laser, you have to turn the laser barrel manually.  The sound this triggers is a charging sound, though different from that of the Drill Blaster.  The Operation Overdrive emblem lights up again when this happens.  Plus, the laser barrel is not painted or done the same way the back packaging shows it to be.

The Tri Laser also comes with a Weapon Attachment, which is made out of soft bendable plastic.  This attachment can be placed in the top handle of the Tri-Laser.  It does not add any sounds to the weapon, but just sits there and gives, what I assume Bandai America wanted to be, a "Powerful" look to it.  The attachment can also be added to the Mega Mission Helmet for more "imaginary" fun.

Overall, Drill Blaster & Tri-Laser really make me miss the days of the good $20 to $30 Mega Weapon Toys.  I believe if Bandai America still wanted to do Mega Weapons, a complete Drill Blaster would have been perfect for it.  But since they wanted to shrink and split the weapon, we got the Drill Blaster & Tri Laser.  For kids the Tri-Laser is okay.  Having to manually spin the laser is a let down, but the sounds are all right for kids to enjoy.  For collectors, yeah I guess if you're on a really tight budget, this is better than the Soft Attack Version.  I do wish Bandai America had tried to make these a bit larger.  Collectors, I still recommend getting the Japanese Dual Crasher.  So it's an okay for the kids, and just an all right for collectors.
