“Power Rangers Dino Charge: Hero DVD Review”

October 30, 2016

It may be Halloween tomorrow, but it’s not too early to begin thinking of the holidays. The final Power Rangers Dino Charge DVD comes out Tuesday, and it makes a great holiday gift for the Power Rangers fan in your life.

POWER RANGERS DINO CHARGE: HERO OFFICIAL DESCRIPTION

Join the Power Rangers on a quest for a new hero! Get set for dino-charged adventure and nonstop thrills as the Power Rangers discover their newest ally, the Purple Ranger! But when the Purple Ranger decides to leave the team, it will take all of the Power Rangers’ skills combined to battle the villainous Sledge - and find a new hero fit for the Purple Energem - in this action-packed collection that features the bonus episode, “Race to Rescue Christmas.”

PACKAGING, ARTWORK & DISC

This release is similar to the “Rise” DVD, as it has a slip cover that is different from the actual case cover art. The slip cover is done in a gift wrap style, with the T-Rex Zord bursting out & wearing a Santa hat. The actual case cover artwork features the Black, Gold, Red & Purple Rangers standing on top of the Earth with Rexy, and Sledge’s ship off in space. The back cover art features the core five Rangers over the Earth, with Seldge behind them in space. The disc art is much like the main cover art, featuring the same Rangers and Rexy. The insert card advertises the first three Dino Charge DVD releases, as well as provides a digital download code on the opposite side.

MENUS

The Main Menu features the image from the main case cover art, along with the DVD logo and menu options. The instrumental version of the Dino Charge theme song plays in the background of the menu. The Episodes menu features the Black & Purple Rangers against a blue space background, with the five episode selection thumbnails. The Languages menu has Rexy with the language options.

EPISODES

This final Dino Charge DVD features five great episodes. We go with the Rangers to find the Purple Ranger, as well as the Pelsio Zord. Then we are introduced to Heckyl, as Ms Morgan and our heroes look for a new Purple Ranger. In the finale we get an epic clash against Sledge’s forces, and a race to rescue keeper. The Christmas episode is a story that is light hearted, but still has some heart.

#17 - “World Famous! (In New Zealand)”
When one of Sledge’s transport pods is spotter in New Zealand, the Rangers head to Auckland and are shocked to discover the existence of a new Ranger
.

#18 - “Deep Down Under”
With the Purple Energem in hand, the Rangers race to find the Purple Plesio Zord before Sledge can destroy it for good.

#19 - “Wishing For a Hero”
While searching for a new Purple Ranger, the Teens find all their personal wishes coming true in the worst way..

#20 - “One More Energem”
With two Energems in Sledge’s possession, the Rangers and Kendall must take the fight to his ship in order to save the world.

Holiday Episode - “Race to Rescue Christmas”
When Poisandra steals Santa’s Computer, it’s up to the Rangers to get it back before Christmas is cancelled.

BONUS FEATURES
The DVD comes with a download code, allowing you to download the Dino Charge episodes featured on this DVD. However, the back of the package states that the Holiday episode is also counted as a Bonus Episode.

FINAL VERDICT

This is a great DVD for any Power Rangers fan. The core four episodes are packed with great action, adventure and story. The Holiday episode is a nice bonus, and I prefer putting the Halloween & Christmas episodes on the core volume releases, instead of bundling them with past similar episodes. It’s a great addition to any fan’s collection, and will surely make a great holiday gift.

The Power Rangers Dino Charge: Hero DVD is available starting November 1st, 2016, wherever DVDs are sold. It should cost $10 to $15, depending on the retailer.
