“Power Rangers Dino Charge: Unleashed DVD Review”

January 14, 2016

It’s a brand new year and that means it is time for a new series of Power Rangers DVD releases. Up first is the first Power Rangers Dino Charge release. It’s packed full of action, adventure, story and great characters. Check out my full review.

OFFICIAL DESCRIPTION

Get charged up and unleash the mighty strength of the dinosaurs with the Power Rangers Dino Charge! Centuries after intergalactic bounty hunter Sledge tried to get his hands on the mysterious Energems, a new team of Rangers has unearthed them and bonded with their powerful dinosaur spirits. With the help of dino-fueled battle gear, new Zords, Megazords and teamwork, they must protect these Energems at all costs from Sledge’s monsters to keep the universe safe.

PACKAGING, ARTWORK & DISC

For this first release the artwork is decent. It’s not to the same level most of the Super Megaforce volumes were, but it is still fun. The image of the Red Ranger with the T-Rex Zord in the background looks good. I actually like the image on the back of the case more though. The DVD comes with a non-holo slip box cover. The back features all five core Rangers in battle ready stances, the official description of the DVD, the episodes, and a reminder that you can download the episodes digitally. The disc features the main cover art image. It comes in a standard black DVD case.

MENUS

The Main Menu features the same image as the cover art, just a bit expanded. The instrumental version of the Dino Charge theme song plays in the background. The Episodes Menu has just the Red Ranger image on the left side, with the four episodes to choose from on the right. For the Languages Menu the T-Rex Zord is huge on the right side, while the language options are on the left.

EPISODES

This first Dino Charge DVD is the perfect start. These four episodes have tons of action, good humor and amazing characters. We get to see how everything started millions of years ago with Sledge chasing after Keeper, the Ranger’s becoming a team, and what makes each Ranger unique and true hero.

#1 - “Powers From the Past”
Millions of years after the mysterious and powerful Energems were entrusted to the now extinct dinosaurs for protection from a ruthless bounty hunter, a pair of courageous teens find themselves in possession of two of these long lost precious artifacts, and come face to face with a monster who will do everything in his power to steal them for himself.

#2 - “Past, Present and Fusion”
A new teen finds his own Energem and joins Tyler and Shelby on their pilgrimage to the Dinosaur Museum, where they learn they are a part of the elite team called the Power Rangers. They are entrusted with protecting the Energems from a fierce bounty hunter named Sledge, who has returned and is more determined than ever to capture the Energems for himself.

#3 - “A Fools Hour”
Sledge arrives on Earth to confront Keeper and the Rangers. He gives them a deadline to return the Energems, but coming up with a plan to fight back gets compromised when Tyler goes after Fury on his own. Can the Rangers figure out how to work as a team?

#4 - “Return of the Caveman”
Chase tries to help Koda adapt to modern day technology after he struggles to learn how to ride their new high tech Dino Cycles. But when they are caged in a cave by one of Sledge's monsters, Koda must rely on his caveman instincts to escape and save his friend.

BONUS FEATURES
The disc does come with the digital download code, allowing you to download all four episodes from this disc.

FINAL VERDICT
This is a great DVD for Power Rangers fans of any age. Dino Charge is a fun & exciting season, and this first volume is a must have for any fan of the season. It’s fun for the whole family, young fans and adult fans alike with enjoy this release. I still would have liked some kind of small bonus feature though.

The Power Rangers Dino Charge: Unleashed DVD was released on January 12th, 2016, and is now available wherever DVDs are sold. It should cost $10 to $15, depending on the retail store.
