“Power Rangers Trickster Treat DVD Review”

September 14, 2015

It’s that spooky time of year again, and for some Ranger Halloween fun Lionsgate is releasing the Power Rangers Trickster Treat DVD. Dive in to see what ghoulish treats lurk inside this disc.

It’s Halloween, and the Power Rangers’ biggest foes are determined not to let them ruin any of their ghastly mayhem! And there’s no time for treats, as the team must outwit Trickster’s nightmare-inducing dream beams, visit a mysterious fortune teller who summons visions of past opponents and escape the haunted forest, all while battling the creepiest of creatures and keeping humanity safe. But is there a monster from the spirit world and beyond that can defeat the Power Rangers?

For this Halloween release, the artwork is pretty standard. It has a nice montage shot of Samurai, Megaforce and Mighty Morphin Rangers. Though it would have been nice to also include a Zeo Ranger, since this DVD does include a Zeo Episode. The DVD comes with a non-holo slip box cover. The back features more standard stock images of Samurai, Mighty Morphin and Megaforce Rangers, and the details of the DVD. The disc features the main cover art image. It comes in a standard black DVD case.

The main menu features a nice design with a Jack-O-Lantern selector. After a few seconds, clips from Samurai & Megaforce begin playing on the side of the screen. Other menus feature monsters from the episodes included on the disc. Each menu also has the Megaforce/Super Megaforce instrumental theme playing.

This spirited DVD features four spooktacular episodes from Power Rangers past. For the most part, they are enjoyable. Okay, Trickster Treat may has some minor issues, but for the kiddos, these are all fun shows for them to watch and get them in the Halloween spirit.

Power Rangers Megaforce - “Raising Spirits”
The Rangers decided to visit a psychic who has set up in the mall for Halloween, but they soon find that not all is as it seems. Glytcher is out to spoil Halloween for everyone, and it’s up to the Megaforce team to stop him.

Power Rangers Super Samurai - “Trickster Treat”
With Master Xandred infuriated by Halloween, Octoroo sends Trickster to ruin the spirited day for the Samurai Rangers. Trickster traps the Rangers in their dreams, and throws them up against numerous challenges.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - “Zedd’s Monster Mash”
As the teens are chaperoning kids as they go trick-or-treating, Lord Zedd sends Goldar and a team of Z Putties to kidnap Tommy. When all the Rangers regroup inside the Dark Dimension, they must fight spooky monsters from the past.

Power Rangers Zeo - “It Came From Angel Grove”
When Adam takes a break from a late night study session, he decides to watch a old monster movie. However, Adam soon finds himself trapped inside an endless monster movie himself. Adam has to fight to free himself and determine what is real and what is not.

There are no bonus features for this DVD.

This is a fun DVD for young Power Rangers, especially those who love Halloween. The four episodes pack exciting action, as well as some great Halloween fun. Adult fans can likely pass on this release if they have any of the Power Rangers DVD Season Box Sets, but if you are like me and want a disc that collects a few Halloween episodes, it’s worth a pick up.

The Power Rangers Trickster Treat DVD will be available on September 15th, wherever DVDs are sold. It should cost $10 to $15, depending on the retail store.
