“Sky Strike DVD Review”

June 5, 2015

The Power Rangers Super Megaforce Volume IV: “Sky Strike” DVD comes out next week. It features a trip to the RPM Rangers’ dimension, the fall of Price Vekar and Vrak, the return of Robo Knight, and the coming of Emperor Mavro.

The Power Ranger are in for the fight of their lives as they battle their greatest enemies yet -- dimension-hopping Professor Cog, Prince Vekar’s mighty Armada Megazord, Emperor Mavro and his Royal Guard, and Damaras, the most lethal warrior in the universe! When Vrak returns, transformed and more powerful than ever, he will turn one of the Power Rangers’ most trusted allies against them -- the Super Megaforce team will never be the same after facing Dark Robo Knight!

For the fourth Super Megaforce DVD, the cover art doesn’t live up to the greatness of the previous three. Granted it is still a nice image of the Red Ranger and the Sky Ship in the background, but it just lacks the intensity of the previous volumes. I would have preferred a shot of the Rangers with the Super Mega Cannon. The volume comes with a holo-box style cover. The back cover features the male Rangers (Why are the women missing from this shot?), Vrak in his final form, and the Sky Ship with volume description. The disc features the main cover art image. It comes in a standard black DVD case.

The main menu features a bluish-purple background with lightning striking, with clips of the episodes playing above the menu options. Other sub menus feature the Red Ranger image from the cover art. The Megaforce/Super Megaforce instrumental theme plays during the Main Menu screen.

This fourth volume contains episodes fourteen through eighteen of Super Megaforce. All of these shows are action packed, and quite enjoyable. We see the Rangers travel to the RPM dimension and get the Turbo Falcon, the epic battle of the Rangers against Prince Vekar, Vrak’s return and brining Robo Knight with him, and finally the arrival of Emperor Mavro.

14. In The Driver’s Seat
Lured away from Earth to investigate an emergency signal from Corinth, the Rangers discover they’ve been trapped in the alternate dimension by Professor Cog, who attacks Earth in their absence. Their only hope to get back home lies with the wild Turbo Falcon Zord, who they must tame in order to return to their dimension and save Earth.

15. All Hail Prince Vekar
The Rangers finally battle the evil Prince Vekar face to face when he comes to Earth armed with his very own Megazord.

16. Vrak is Back, Part 1
In the wake of Prince Vekar’s defeat, the Ranger find themselves face-to-face with Vrak, who returns with a new plan to destroy the world and a new robot he has programmed to fight against the Rangers: Robo Knight!

17. Vrak is Back, Part 2
Vrak continues his plan to split the Earth open via magical wedges. The Power Rangers must prevent Vrak from destroying the earth with giant spins while trying to bring Robo Knight to reason because, under the influence of Vrak, he has become their enemy.

18. Emperor Mavro
Emperor Mavro comes to Earth, with his personal fleet, to avenge his son's death and arrests Damaras for failing to protect the Prince. He gives a chance to Damaras to redeem himself by destroying the Power Rangers, but he fails against their determination and teamwork. The Emperor has not yet said his last word.

The disc does not feature any bonuses itself, but once more you get a digital download code insert. With this code, you can get all five of these episodes in digital format, for your computer & mobile devices. Still, I would have liked for some kind of bonus feature on the disc. We do have bonus features to look forward to with the final volume in August.

This is another good DVD for young Power Rangers fans, and adults who enjoyed the season as well. While still lacking any bonus content, it is great having these five episodes. All the episodes feature good action & adventure, and a fun to watch over again.

The Power Rangers Super Megaforce Volume IV: “Sky Strike” DVD will be available on June 9th, wherever DVDs are sold. It should cost $10 to $15, depending on the retail store.

Coming out next will be Power Rangers Super Megaforce Volume V: “The Legendary Battle”, on August 11, 2015.
