“Power Rangers Fans Unite”

April 20, 2012

Are you tired of how Nickelodeon has been treating Power Rangers? Do you wish we could get the same level of advertising & promotion that most all other Nick shows get? Do you think Power Rangers deserves more than just one single airing a week? Well now it is time we did something about it.

After a week of writers block last week, it finally struck me for what I could write about. However, I wanted to give myself another week to get all my thoughts & ideas lined out. So I have decided it is time for us Power Ranger fans to rally around the show we love, and prove to Nickelodeon that our franchise deserves more respect than we have been given this year.

Let’s compare information & data for the past two seasons.

Power Rangers Samurai - 2011

-Aired on Saturdays, & Sundays for a portion of the year

-Had “On The Next All New” Promos for each new episode

-Managed to average 2.699 Million viewers each week

Power Rangers Super Samurai - 2012

-Only airs on Saturdays

-Has received only one generic promo for the season in general

-Has thus far averaged 2.57 Million viewers each week.

Super Samurai is dropping in ratings, and has clearly gone off of Nickelodeon’s radar for promotion. Yet sadly, this is how Nickelodeon operates. They get a new show, promote it heavily for it’s first year, and then if it does not bring them billions in ad revenue, they classify it as just another space filler. Don’t believe me? Remember Supah Ninjas? How about T.U.F.F. Puppy? Both of these show received a heavy amount of advertising to start, and then after a few months, were off Nick’s promotion list. So this behavior is nothing new, but it can be changed.

I believe by simply adding one extra weekly airing of Super Samurai (a rerun airing), and by giving the show “On The Next All New” promos, the ratings and viewer attention could again return to Power Rangers. This is not asking for anything extraordinary, simply fairness. Just because a series is not a Yellow Sponge Cartoon or some Tween Sitcom does not mean it should not been given a chance. Power Rangers deserves fairness, and that’s what we fans need speak up for.

Lucky for all of us, we live in the social network age. We the viewers have more power than networks would like for us to believe. Our biggest power? Our voices. I believe it is high time we Power Rangers fans let Nickelodeon & Viacom (Owner of Nickelodeon) know that we are tired of how Power Rangers has been treated by the network.

Here are the easiest ways to go about contacting Nickelodeon & Viacom:

     Nickelodeon on Twitter - @NickelodeonTV

     Viacom on Twitter - @Viacom

     Nickelodeon on Facebook - http://www.facebook.com/nickelodeon

     Viacom on Facebook - http://www.facebook.com/Viacom

So let’s get started. Let’s show Nickelodeon that we will not just sit by and let them slowly try and kill off the show we love. It’s time for Power Rangers fans to unite, because it we don’t stand up, then who will?

ALLONS-Y!
